Pro Bono Week 2017

MHAS Ethics Training - Monday 10/23/17

MHAS celebrated ABA Pro Bono Week with a free MCLE ethics training on Monday, 10/23, for private practitioners and public interest attorneys.  The training was presented by Jim Preis, Naomi Sultan and Nishanthi Kurukulasuriya on the ethical issues raised for attorneys when working with clients who might present with decision making challenges.  MHAS's goal in providing the training was to give attorneys strategies for working with clients to ensure client autonomy and to reduce barriers to pro bono representation.  Bet Tzedek partnered with MHAS and hosted the training at its offices.

So Cal Pro Bono Managers' Annual ABA Pro Bono Week

MHAS was a member of the coordinating committee for this year's So Cal Pro Bono Managers' annual ABA Pro Bono Week event held at Nixon Peabody on Monday, 10/23.  More than 40 attorneys and law students gathered at this year's event to learn about current challenges clients can face in immigration enforcement and pro bono opportunities to respond to the current crisis.  The event was co-sponsored by the Los Angeles County Bar Barristers and Nixon Peabody.
