Open House at the Family Resource Center!

If you don’t frequent the Hathaway-Sycamores Family Resource Center, home of our Behavioral Health-Legal Partnership (BeHeLP), you probably don’t know that they have been diligently restoring the historic main building on the property for over a year. Well, the restoration is finished, and last night the agency held an open house to celebrate with the Highland Park community.I spent the evening chatting with clinicians and staff, greeting former clients, children, and community partners, and admiring artwork and moving videos. Rather than attempt a summary of the experience, I will share some pictures. Below, here I am with some of my favorite Family Resource Center clinicians (and partners in preventative legal intervention!).One of the exciting things about the restoration of this building is that Hathaway-Sycamores has set aside a dedicated office for BeHeLP! This means that rather than use the offices of absent clinicians, we will have a confidential space on-site to provide legal assistance to families in need. Below is a picture of the door to our new BeHeLP office (unfortunately, the room itself was locked for the event). This event was a chance to enjoy how deeply BeHeLP has become part of the Family Resource Center community. It was also a reminder of how lucky we are at MHAS to have found such a remarkable partner in Hathaway-Sycamores.
