Housing Success for Tatiana & Her Family

In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, I want to take a moment to share a recent success story with you. A few weeks before the Safer at Home Order was announced, MHAS received a call from Tatiana, a domestic violence survivor and single mother of three children, two of whom have mental health disabilities.
Tatiana's landlord, Raul, had issued her an eviction notice through no fault of her own. When Tatiana tried to access the tenant protections that applied to her, Raul brought in his son - an attorney - to assist with the eviction. Over the next few weeks, Tatiana experienced harassment and threatening behavior from Raul and his son that made her feel unsafe in her own home.
