Jules Lutaba is a Staff Attorney who joined MHAS in December 2019. Jules is part of the Medical-Legal Partnership (MLP) program. As part of the MLP, Jules provides legal counsel to patients at an LA County medical clinic in El Monte. The majority of his work involves questions of immigration law, public benefits, and employment law.
Jules' previous legal experiences were in human rights law. Specifically, he focused on protecting the right to freedom of expression and represented journalists facing criminal defamation charges. He's worked for a variety of different organizations including the United Nations, Media Legal Defence Initiative (MLDI), and the Southern Africa Litigation Center (SALC).
Jules is a graduate of the University of California, Irvine School of Law and is licensed to practice in California.
