Empowering Parents
Trainings provide parents and educators the tools they need to support children with special needs
Woman reading to child

One of the most important special education advocacy services provided by MHAS is training. We train hundreds of parents on how to become better advocates for their children's needs, and we train educators about their responsibilities and how they can best meet the needs of the children in their care.

One mother of two autistic children attended a recent training and said that, thanks to what she learned, "my life has changed entirely." Read the rest of the story here.

MHAS Immigration Detention Advocacy Project in the News

On March 26, the Daily Journal featured a front page story on MHAS Staff Attorney and Equal Justice Works Fellow Greg Pleasants' work to protect the rights of immigration detainees with mental disabilties. Read the article on the Daily Journal website (subscription required).
